How acne actually forms

2 min readBy the LiberSkin team · Non-medical approach

It starts with sebum

Under your skin, glands produce sebum, an oily film that normally protects it. When they make too much, the pore can clog.

The pore clogs

Excess sebum mixes with dead skin cells and forms a plug: that's a blackhead (open pore) or a whitehead (closed pore).

Bacteria and inflammation

Inside that clogged pore, a natural skin bacterium multiplies. The immune system reacts, redness, swelling, sometimes pus: that's an inflammatory pimple.

Why it happens to you

Four levers tip the balance: hormones (which drive sebum), diet, overall inflammation (stress, sleep, gut), and skincare habits. Adult acne is almost always a combination, and yours is what LiberSkin looks for with you.
